Florida State will be without starting quarterback Everett Golson for Saturday’s game against Syracuse.

The school announced Saturday morning that Golson is dealing with concussion symptoms, so redshirt junior Sean Maguire will get his second career start for the Seminoles.

Maguire started against Clemson last year while Jameis Winston served a one-game suspension and threw for 304 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. Maguire has also made appearances in two games this season against Texas State and Louisville, combining for 73 yards and a touchdown while completing 7-of-8 passes.

Maguire was the expected starter for FSU coming out of spring practice until Golson, a graduate transfer from Notre Dame, joined the program.

Golson has been mostly good for the Seminoles this season, throwing for 1,659 yards and 11 touchdowns. He threw his first interception of the season last weekend when the Seminoles lost their first game of the season at Georgia Tech.

In addition to Golson, starting running back Dalvin Cook is also out against the Orange due to an ankle injury.

The Seminoles (6-1, 4-1 ACC) kick off at noon against the Orange (3-4, 1-2 ACC).
